GOOGGOOG

AI cloud startup Lamda secured a contract to rent over 1,000 Nvidia Blackwell GPU systems to high-speed trading firm Hudson River Trading, which posted $12.3 billion last year. Hudson River Trading, a major Google Cloud customer, will use Lamda’s previously purchased and installed Nvidia systems rather than new chip purchases.

1. Deal Overview

AI cloud computing startup Lamda, backed by Nvidia and after raising $1.5 billion last year, has secured a cloud contract with Hudson River Trading. Lamda previously signed a deal to provide Microsoft with access to Nvidia’s chips.

2. Contract Details

The agreement entails renting more than 1,000 of Nvidia’s latest Blackwell GPU systems to Hudson River Trading. Lamda will supply systems it has already purchased and installed in its data center, with financial terms undisclosed.

3. Implications for Google Cloud

Hudson River Trading generated $12.3 billion in revenues last year and is a major Google Cloud customer but had only used Nvidia GPUs on Google’s platform rather than its custom AI chips. Lamda’s offering highlights Nvidia’s chip ubiquity and presents fresh competition to Google Cloud’s AI infrastructure.
