Largo wins Bahia environmental permit for GAN open-pit vanadium mine development
LGO•Largo received a four-year environmental permit from Bahia regulator INEMA to implement and operate the GAN open-pit vanadium mine at Maracás Menchen. The development is expected to provide a second open-pit ore source alongside Campbell.
1. Permit for GAN development
Largo said Bahia state regulator INEMA granted an environmental permit covering four years of implementation and operation for the GAN open-pit vanadium mine at Maracás Menchen. The development would provide a second open-pit ore source alongside Campbell.
2. Mine plan and deposit
Largo expects GAN to extend mine life, add operating flexibility, diversify feed and lower operational risk at nearby processing facilities. The deposit also hosts copper, gold and platinum group metals, mirroring by-product output already produced at Campbell since August 2026. GAN is included in a 31-year life-of-mine plan for Maracás Menchen, while broader open-pit resources are cited as supporting more than 30 years.
