Bladex’s analysis identifies a new Latin American oil and gas expansion cycle, with production nearing pre-commodity-crisis highs. It says conflict with Iran creates opportunities for fossil fuel producers despite weaker demand.
Brazil leads regional growth, with offshore development, regulatory liberalization and foreign investment supporting reserves and production over the next decade. Argentina has the strongest natural gas growth prospects, driven by unconventional resources and intensive drilling in Vaca Muerta, while Colombia faces declining reserves and weaker exploration.
