LLY•Eli Lilly said an indirect comparison found its 17.2-mg Foundayo dose produced 1.5% to 2.4% greater weight loss and 0.3% to 0.6% larger A1C reductions than Novo Nordisk's 25-mg Ozempic pill in adults with type 2 diabetes.
Lilly said the findings came from an indirect comparison using data from two previous late-stage studies. The company said analyses using different statistical methods produced consistent results.
Novo said the comparison involved people with type 2 diabetes, not people with obesity, and that people with type 2 diabetes lose less weight in clinical studies. Novo's 25-mg once-daily oral semaglutide dose is not approved in the United States for type 2 diabetes; the company expects an FDA decision by the end of 2026.
