Lockheed Martin Opens Dallas Rapid Fielding Center, Plans $7B Expansion

LMTLMT

Lockheed Martin has opened its Rapid Fielding Center in Dallas, integrating prototyping and manufacturing to cut development timelines from years to months. Backed by more than $7 billion in capacity expansions and $2 billion in munitions, the company plans multibillion-dollar upgrades across 20+ U.S. facilities over three years.

1. Rapid Fielding Center Launch

Lockheed Martin inaugurated its Rapid Fielding Center in Dallas to streamline end-to-end development, testing and prototype production of next-generation defense systems. The facility’s modular layout and proximity to advanced production equipment allow immediate design feedback and faster transition from concept to low-rate initial production.

2. Accelerated Prototyping and Cost Efficiency

The center leverages cutting-edge production and prototyping technologies to reduce prototype development from years to months while capturing lifecycle data for continuous digital feedback. Its flexible configuration enables cost-effective scaling, optimizing manufacturing flow before handoff to final production sites.

3. Investment and Expansion Plans

The opening builds on over $7 billion in capacity expansions since the prior administration, including $2 billion dedicated to munitions production. Over the next three years, Lockheed Martin will invest several more billions to modernize and expand more than 20 facilities across Arkansas, Alabama, Florida, Massachusetts and Texas.
