Lumentum rises after report its AI-server optical products are sold out into 2029
LITE•Lumentum CEO Michael Hurlston said the company’s optical components are sold out through early 2029, with unmet demand for some products extending through 2027 and 2028. Lumentum shares rose 6.4% premarket.
1. Demand exceeds supply
Lumentum’s optical components are completely sold out through early 2029, as technology companies seek faster AI data-center infrastructure, Bloomberg News reported. CEO Michael Hurlston said the company cannot meet about 70% of demand for certain products through 2027, while about 30% of demand for other products will remain unaddressed through 2028.
2. Shares rise premarket
Lumentum shares rose 6.4% in premarket trading. Coherent shares were up 4.9%; Nvidia made separate $2 billion investments in Lumentum and Coherent earlier this year. Through Thursday’s close, Lumentum shares had risen 184.5% year to date.
