Lyft CEO Logan Green said integrating autonomous vehicles via its Motional partnership in Las Vegas will broaden ride options and improve service. He confirmed plans to expand AV pilot programs into San Francisco, Miami and Chicago by the end of 2026.

1. CEO Remarks on AV Integration

Logan Green emphasized that autonomous vehicles will complement Lyft’s existing driver network rather than replace it, offering customers additional ride options during peak and off-peak periods. He highlighted that AVs could help fill service gaps in lower-density and suburban markets.

2. Motional Partnership Details

Since late 2023, Lyft has been operating a robotaxi pilot in Las Vegas with partner Motional, integrating self-driving vehicles into its app-based platform. The trial has tested features like curb-to-curb service and real-time route optimization.

3. Expansion Plans

Green confirmed that Lyft will roll out AV trials in San Francisco, Miami and Chicago by the end of 2026, aiming to improve fleet utilization and reduce operational costs. These additional pilots are intended to refine safety protocols and gather rider feedback before a broader commercial launch.
