MDT•Medtronic presented the design and patient characteristics of its EXPAND TAVR II trial on October 31, 2026. The trial enrolled 692 patients at 96 sites in 16 countries and will compare earlier Evolut transcatheter valve replacement plus medical therapy with medical therapy alone.
1. Trial design
Medtronic presented the design and patient characteristics of EXPAND TAVR II at TCT on October 31, 2026, ahead of future clinical results. The trial tests whether earlier Evolut transcatheter valve replacement with guideline-directed medical therapy improves outcomes versus medical therapy alone in adults aged 65 or older with moderate aortic stenosis and additional risk features.
2. Enrollment and follow-up
The trial enrolled 692 patients at 96 sites across 16 countries. Safety will be assessed at 30 days and effectiveness at two years, with follow-up planned through 10 years.
