Merck starts Phase 3 trial of Ohtuvayre to prevent COPD exacerbations
MRK•Merck started the Phase 3 ENHANCE-3 trial of Ohtuvayre to prevent COPD exacerbations in adults receiving standard care. The study will enroll about 2,136 patients across 28 countries and assess outcomes over 52 weeks.
1. Trial begins enrollment
The ENHANCE-3 trial will compare Ohtuvayre with placebo, alongside standard care, in adults with a history of COPD exacerbations. Enrollment has begun in the United States.
2. Study design
The study will assess whether Ohtuvayre reduces moderate or severe exacerbations over 52 weeks, and results will be shared with regulators globally. Ohtuvayre received FDA approval in June 2024 for adult COPD maintenance treatment following earlier trials that demonstrated clinically meaningful improvements in lung function.
