The framework outlines joint identification of suitable use cases and aircraft platforms and assigns RIG responsibilities for certification support, implementation, and long-term sustainment.

The partnership addresses heightened regional defense priorities by delivering autonomous flight capabilities that bolster operational resilience, reduce human risk, and extend mission endurance. Leveraging RIG’s three-decade history with UAE Armed Forces, Merlin aims to align its autonomy solutions with evolving national security strategies.

Merlin’s autonomy system is approaching certification for both military and general aviation roles, offering full-stack autonomy from takeoff to landing. RIG’s regional network and technical expertise will accelerate deployment across critical platforms, with plans to assess mission-specific performance metrics and scalability.
