1. New AI Subscription Offerings
Meta launched two paid tiers for its AI chatbot—Meta One Plus at $7.99 per month and Meta One Premium at $19.99—starting in Singapore, Guatemala and Bolivia. Paid users receive higher-generation limits for images, videos and extended reasoning, while the free version remains available.
2. Strategic Revenue Diversification
The rollout follows CEO pledges of $600 billion in AI infrastructure spending and a $200 billion data center in Louisiana. Meta reported $55 billion in Q1 ad sales versus $1.29 billion in non-ad revenue and is also testing $2.99-$3.99 tiers for Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, plus business tiers at $14.99 and $49.99.
3. Early Market Response
Shares rose more than 3% after the announcement as investors welcomed signs of new recurring AI revenue streams. The pilot’s success and future rollout scope will be closely watched to gauge its impact on offsetting Meta’s substantial AI capital expenditures.
