Meta Shares Jump 3% to One-Month High After Launching In-House Muse Image Generator
META•Meta shares climbed 3% to a one-month high after launching Muse Image, its in-house AI image generator available on Instagram Stories and Advantage+ ad tools. The model, built by Meta Superintelligence Labs, scored below GPT Image 2 but outperformed Google’s Nano Banana 2 and will roll out to Facebook.
1. Stock Reaction
On July 7, Meta’s shares rose over 3% to hit a one-month peak as investors responded positively to its inaugural in-house AI image model. The gain outpaced broader tech benchmarks and underscored market enthusiasm for Meta’s AI capabilities and monetization potential.
2. Muse Image Features
Developed by Meta Superintelligence Labs, Muse Image introduces over 30 AI-powered effects for Instagram Stories and WhatsApp, enabling photo editing, annotation and on-the-fly image generation within chats. The model is also integrated into Advantage+, Meta’s AI-driven ad creation platform, allowing advertisers to generate and customize ad visuals in minutes.
3. Competitive Positioning and Roadmap
Internal tests showed Muse Image trailing OpenAI’s GPT Image 2 but outperforming Google’s Nano Banana 2 on multi-photo editing tasks. Meta plans to extend the tool to Facebook and Messenger later this year and is developing Muse Video for future video-generation capabilities, signaling a push to internalize AI workloads.
