On its Q3 2026 earnings call, Methanex CEO Rich Sumner and CFO Dean Richardson discussed earnings expectations and debt repayments. It repaid $300 million of 2027 senior notes after the third quarter and expects to redeem the remaining $400 million in the fourth quarter.

A new normal course issuer bid allows Methanex to buy and cancel up to 5% of its outstanding shares, while most free cash flow is targeted for deleveraging. Middle East methanol supply is running at 5%–10% of normal levels, and all coastal Chinese methanol-to-olefins operations are shut down.
