Microchip Debuts XpressConnect PCIe 6.0 and CXL 3.1 Retimers with <12ns Latency
MCHP•Microchip Technology’s XpressConnect retimers extend PCIe 6.0 and CXL 3.1 signal reach beyond conventional limits, enabling AI data centers to support higher-bandwidth architectures with less integration complexity. They deliver under 12ns pin-to-pin latency—around 80% below PCIe 6.0 specs—to improve GPU cluster efficiency.
1. Product Capabilities
Microchip’s XpressConnect retimers support PCIe 6.0 at 64 GT/s and CXL 3.1, extending signal reach beyond native Gen5 and Gen6 limits. The devices achieve under 12 ns pin-to-pin latency—around an 80% reduction compared to official PCIe 6.0 specs—to minimize data stalls in high-density AI clusters.
2. System Integration
Engineered as drop-in, industry-standard solutions, the retimers integrate with PCIe Gen3-Gen5 platforms and interoperable Switchtec PCIe Gen6 switches, Adaptec SmartRAID controllers, HBAs, and Flashtec NVMe controllers. ChipLink diagnostic tools provide real-time link monitoring and four-level PAM4 telemetry for simplified troubleshooting.
3. Data Center Impact
By enabling flexible link bifurcation (1×16, 2×8, 4×4), hot-plug support, and reduced vendor dependency, XpressConnect retimers help data center architects disaggregate memory resources and scale large AI fabrics. The enhancements aim to improve GPU and accelerator utilization, streamline system design, and reduce total cost of ownership.
