Micron Completes Tongluo Site Acquisition, Adds 300k Sq Ft Cleanroom
Micron has completed its acquisition of PSMC’s Tongluo P5 site in Miaoli County, Taiwan, adding 300,000 square feet of 300mm cleanroom space and beginning retrofit work in March. A 270,000-square-foot second cleanroom facility is slated to start construction by fiscal 2026-end, with product shipments from Tongluo expected in fiscal 2028.
1. Acquisition of Tongluo P5 Site
Micron has officially assumed ownership of Powerchip’s Tongluo P5 facility, integrating 300,000 square feet of existing 300mm cleanroom space into its Taiwan mega campus to bolster DRAM production capacity.
2. Cleanroom Retrofit and Timeline
Retrofitting of the acquired cleanroom begins in March, with modifications tailored for leading-edge DRAM and HBM production; meaningful product shipments are projected to commence in fiscal 2028.
3. Phase Two Expansion Plans
By the end of fiscal 2026, Micron will break ground on a second cleanroom of roughly 270,000 square feet at Tongluo, mirroring the initial facility’s scale to further amplify capacity.
4. Strategic Impact on AI Memory Supply
The expanded Tongluo site strengthens Micron’s ability to meet surging AI-driven demand, integrating seamlessly with its Taichung campus to enhance vertical integration and global DRAM supply resilience.
