Micron enters $600 million settlement of Netlist patent dispute
MU•Micron will pay Netlist $600 million to settle a patent dispute over memory chips, under a five-year license costing $30 million per quarter.
1. Settlement terms
Netlist said Micron will pay $30 million per quarter for a five-year license to its patent portfolio, which includes high-bandwidth memory technology. Netlist CEO C.K. Hong said the agreement “further validates the value of our AI memory technologies.”
2. Patent disputes
Netlist won a $445 million patent infringement verdict against Micron in Texas in 2024. In September, it filed a new complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission seeking to block imports of Micron chips used in Google, Nvidia and Broadcom products for AI computing. Netlist also settled a separate memory-patent dispute with Samsung in August after winning $421 million in patent verdicts against the company.
