1. Minerals Technologies Expands Paper and Packaging Footprint in Asia

Minerals Technologies (MTX) has announced the opening of two new satellite manufacturing plants in Southeast Asia during the fourth quarter of 2025, increasing its regional production capacity for functional mineral additives by 25%. The first facility, located in Johor, Malaysia, began operations in November and adds 12,000 tonnes of annual capacity for precipitated calcium carbonate used in high-opacity paper grades. A second plant in Chonburi, Thailand, commenced production in December with 8,000 tonnes of capacity focused on specialty kaolin for barrier coatings in food-grade packaging. These investments follow the expansion of MTX’s existing sites in Shanghai and Mumbai, which collectively saw a 15% throughput increase in 2025, and pave the way for a planned third satellite plant slated to start commissioning in early 2026 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The network expansion reduces regional lead times by an average of two weeks, enhances service to major paper and packaging customers in Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam, and supports MTX’s target of achieving 10% annual revenue growth in its Paper and Packaging segment over the next two years.
