Mint Commits HK$15M to JV for B.Duck AI Companion Robot Debut
MIMI•Mint Incorporation has committed HK$15 million to form Rice Robotics AGI, a JV with Rice Robotics focused on consumer AI companion robots. The JV signed a non-binding MOU to license B.Duck IP and will unveil its first B.Duck NAVI companion robot at Licensing Expo Las Vegas.
1. Joint Venture Formation
Mint and Rice Robotics established Rice Robotics AGI Holding Limited with a combined HK$15 million equity injection from Mint’s subsidiary Aspiration X and technology, IP and client contributions from Rice Robotics. Governance provisions include shareholder consent rights, transfer restrictions and pre-emptive rights for future share issuances.
2. B.Duck IP Licensing Agreement
Under a non-binding MOU, B.Duck Semk will grant Rice Robotics AGI a license to develop and commercialize AI companion robots featuring the B.Duck character, subject to definitive agreements. This framework sets the stage for deeper co-development initiatives beyond initial IP licensing.
3. B.Duck NAVI Debut and Features
The JV will debut B.Duck NAVI at Licensing Expo Las Vegas, showcasing autonomous navigation, AI-driven emotional companionship, voice interaction, intelligent learning and daily life assistance. The NAVI name emphasizes its autonomous walking functionality designed for home settings and family consumers.
4. Strategic Shift to Consumer Market
This collaboration marks Mint’s strategic expansion from B2B commercial robotics into the B2C consumer segment. Leveraging Rice Robotics’ navigation technology and B.Duck’s brand equity, the JV aims to accelerate adoption of AI companion robots among families and younger users.
