Mint Launches Usage-Based Embedded Robot Insurance with YAS and Swiss Underwriter
MIMI•Mint’s Axonex unit has partnered with Hong Kong’s YAS and a Switzerland-based insurer to create Asia’s first usage-based, predictive embedded micro-insurance for commercial robots. The solution integrates coverage activation at robot deployment, targeting repair, replacement and liability costs to accelerate AI-powered robotics adoption in Hong Kong and Southeast Asia.
1. Strategic Collaboration
Mint’s Axonex unit teamed with Hong Kong-based YAS and a Switzerland-headquartered insurer to jointly develop embedded micro-insurance for commercial robots. This partnership combines Axonex’s robotic data analytics with underwriting expertise to integrate insurance coverage directly into robotics service deployments.
2. Insurance Solution Features
The usage-based and predictive micro-insurance activates coverage at the point of service activation, covering repair and replacement costs as well as third-party liability. This seamless model simplifies risk management by eliminating complex, lengthy insurance procurement processes for enterprise customers.
3. Market Impact and Expansion Plans
Initial deployments will focus on Hong Kong and Southeast Asia, addressing key barriers to enterprise robot adoption by embedding protection into the service itself. Axonex and YAS intend to expand into Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia and explore applications in autonomous vehicles, drones and smart infrastructure robotics.
