Mirae Asset Boosts Ecolab Stake 20.5% to $18.25 Million

Mirae Asset Global Investments increased its Ecolab stake by 20.5% in Q3, acquiring 11,322 additional shares to total 66,656 shares valued at $18.25 million. Institutional investors now own 74.91% of Ecolab’s stock, underscoring significant large-holder engagement.

1. National Pension Service Boosts Stake

During the third quarter, South Korea’s National Pension Service increased its holding in Ecolab by 1.7%, adding 9,837 shares to reach 597,913 shares in total. At quarter-end, this represented approximately 0.21% of the company’s outstanding stock, with a market value of $163.7 million. This move follows the pension fund’s strategy to modestly overweight high-quality industrial names in its global equity allocation.

2. Other Institutional Moves Highlight Confidence

Several large investors also made material changes to their Ecolab positions in recent quarters. Norges Bank initiated a new stake valued at about $847.5 million in the second quarter. Vontobel Holding expanded its position by 119.7% to 2,036,339 shares, worth $548.7 million. AQR Capital Management more than doubled its holding to 727,370 shares ($193.8 million), while Robeco Institutional Asset Management increased its stake by 64.5% to 878,829 shares ($240.7 million). Vanguard Group, already the largest shareholder, added 250,980 shares, lifting its total to 24.66 million shares valued at $6.64 billion. Together, hedge funds and other institutions now own 74.91% of Ecolab.

3. Analyst Ratings and Price Targets

Wall Street sentiment remains generally positive. UBS raised its fair value estimate from $291 to $295 and maintained a neutral rating. Evercore ISI upgraded the stock to outperform and lifted its target from $265 to $300. Wells Fargo bumped its objective from $270 to $275 and held an equal-weight view. Mizuho set a target of $315, while Erste Group Bank moved from buy to hold. Among 17 analysts covering the stock, one issues a strong-buy, ten a buy and six a hold. The average consensus target stands at $297.33, reflecting expectations for mid-single-digit revenue growth and leveraging its global services platform.

4. Dividend Increase and Insider Activity

Ecolab’s board approved a quarterly dividend of $0.73 per share, up from $0.65, yielding approximately 1.0% on an annualized basis with a payout ratio near 42%. Among insiders, EVP Boo Alexander A. De sold 1,422 shares for proceeds of $381,451.50, reducing his stake by 19.9%. Director David Maclennan acquired 750 shares at a cost of $193,200, raising his direct ownership by 3.4%. Insiders collectively hold 0.04% of the company’s stock.
