Mirafiori Plant Halt Extended and Wuhan-Made Jeep SUV Planned for 2030
STLA•Stellantis extended its Mirafiori plant shutdown to July 31 for parts shortages, cutting Fiat 500 hybrid output to 400 units daily from 430 earlier. The automaker also plans a China-produced Jeep SUV in Wuhan for European launch by 2030 as one of six Jeep models.
1. Mirafiori Plant Shutdown Extended
The Mirafiori plant in Turin will halt operations from July 27 to July 31, following an earlier week-long closure for a public holiday. Stellantis cited shortages of engines, bumpers and sensors that have reduced daily Fiat 500 hybrid assembly from 430 to 400 units and strained output ahead of its planned three-week August shutdown.
2. Strategic China-Made Jeep SUV Plan
Stellantis and Dongfeng will produce a large Jeep SUV at the Wuhan facility for a European launch by 2030, expanding the Jeep lineup in Europe to six models, including an all-electric Recon next year. This move reverses a 2022 pullback from Chinese manufacturing and underscores reliance on Chinese production and supply chains.
