Momentus Delivers Vigoride OSV for Transporter-16 Under $6.1M DARPA, Space Force Deals
Momentus has delivered its Vigoride Orbital Service Vehicle to Vandenberg Space Force Base for SpaceX’s Transporter-16 mission, under $4.2M DARPA and $1.9M U.S. Space Force contracts. The vehicle, capable of hosting 10 payloads, 300 kg capacity and 3 kW power, is set for a no-earlier-than late March 2026 launch.
1. Delivery to Vandenberg
Momentus has shipped its Vigoride Orbital Service Vehicle to Vandenberg Space Force Base ahead of integration on SpaceX’s Transporter-16 rideshare mission. This delivery marks the first deployment of Momentus’s in-space logistics platform to a U.S. launch site.
2. Government Contracts
The Transporter-16 mission is backed by a combined $6.1 million in contracts, including $4.2 million from DARPA and $1.9 million from the U.S. Space Force. These agreements underscore Momentus’s growing footprint in national defense space services.
3. Vehicle Specifications and Launch Timeline
The Vigoride OSV can host up to 10 payloads with over 300 kg capacity and deliver peak onboard power of 3 kW. The mission, featuring autonomous rendezvous and proximity operations, is targeted to launch no earlier than late March 2026.
4. NASA Partnership
In parallel, Momentus has secured a NASA agreement to deploy a CubeSat demonstrating joint rendezvous and proximity operations in low Earth orbit. This collaboration further validates Momentus’s technology for future commercial and government space endeavors.
