Mosaic posts fall in quarterly revenue on lower production
MOS•Key second-quarter details
Here are some more details:
- The Tampa, Florida-based company posted net sales of $2.8 billion for the three months ended June 30, down 6.7% from a year ago.
- "Business conditions remained challenging in the second quarter, driven primarily by sulfur availability and affordability challenges," said CEO Bruce Bodine.
- Sulfur and ammonia markets continue to experience widespread disruption, resulting in elevated raw material costs and production curtailments across the global phosphate industry, the company said.
- Mosaic lowered its annual capital expenditure forecast for the second time this year to $1.2 billion from $1.25 billion previously.
- In July, the company announced a temporary reduction of phosphate operations in Brazil, hurt by lower global supply and rising prices of raw material sulfur.
