Mitsubishi UFJ Trust Bank formed a four-party consortium with MUFG Asset Management, Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities, and Progmat to run Japan’s first domestically domiciled tokenized investment trust pilot.
Plans for broader distribution and on-chain integration
Partners plan to widen testing to broader investor distribution and tighter integration with stablecoins or tokenized deposits to support on-chain financial services.
Live test of fund operations and tokenization infrastructure
The group set up the pilot fund on Aug. 31, 2026, to test issuance, asset management, custody, rights administration, and tokenization infrastructure in a live environment.
The fund will not be offered or sold to external investors, with the project focused on building operational know-how for future commercialization.
