NESR, Aramco agree to develop lithium project in Saudi Arabia
NESR•NESR and Saudi Aramco signed an agreement for a lithium demonstration project targeting 2,000 tons per year of battery-grade lithium carbonate, with a planned start in late 2027.
1. Project plans
NESR said its environmental and decarbonization unit signed an agreement with Saudi Aramco to execute the project in Saudi Arabia. It will combine Aramco’s subsurface expertise with NESR’s LiThara technology platform, including brine pre-treatment, direct lithium extraction and carbonation technologies.
