1. NetApp Appoints Paul Fipps to Board of Directors
NetApp has expanded its Board of Directors to ten members with the appointment of Paul Fipps, President of Global Customer Operations at ServiceNow. This marks the second director added in the past five years, bringing the proportion of recently appointed directors to 50%. Nine of the ten board members are independent. Fipps contributes more than 20 years of technology and customer transformation experience, having led global sales, customer success, partner ecosystems and field operations at ServiceNow. He previously served as EVP of Worldwide Sales at ServiceNow, President of Under Armour Connected Fitness and Chief Experience Officer at Under Armour. His academic credentials include a B.S. in Information Systems, an MBA from the University of Baltimore and completion of The Wharton School’s Advanced Management Program.
2. Strategic and Investor Implications
NetApp’s CEO George Kurian highlighted that Fipps’ expertise in aligning sales execution, customer success and partner ecosystems will enhance NetApp’s ability to deliver AI-ready data infrastructure for enterprise workloads. Board Chair Mike Nevens emphasized Fipps’ proven track record in integrating AI solutions and building high-performing global organizations, which directly supports NetApp’s strategic focus on intelligent data management. Investors should note that with more than three decades of market leadership, NetApp’s data platform—built on ONTAP software, the AI Data Engine and AFX automation—remains the only enterprise storage platform natively embedded in major public clouds. Fipps’ addition is expected to accelerate product innovation and drive customer adoption in cloud, flash storage and AI use cases, reinforcing NetApp’s path to sustained revenue growth and strong free cash flow generation.
