Netflix has completed the acquisition of InterPositive, the AI filmmaking tools startup founded by Ben Affleck in 2022. The deal brings the entire 16-person team into Netflix, and Affleck will serve as a senior adviser, though financial terms were not disclosed.

InterPositive’s technology builds project-specific AI models from production dailies to automate tasks such as color grading, relighting and shot generation without requiring reshoots. The platform preserves a production’s visual language by training exclusively on its own footage.

This marks Netflix’s rare external acquisition following its decision to walk away from an $83 billion bid for major studios and streaming assets. The move underscores a strategic shift toward in-house AI enhancements rather than large-scale content acquisitions.
