NextEra joins $100 billion Paducah data center project, plans up to 4.6 GW dedicated generation
NEE•NextEra joins Brookfield-led Paducah campus plan
NextEra Energy joined Brookfield-led partners to develop a data center campus at DOE’s Paducah Site in western Kentucky under a $100 billion plan.
The campus targets 1.8 GW of utility capacity and 1.2 GW of compute by 2032, backed by up to 4.6 GW of dedicated generation.
Project outlook includes jobs and operations roles
Development forecast includes about 8,000 construction jobs and 600 full-time operations roles.
Dedicated power buildout includes gas and battery storage
NextEra was selected to build and own dedicated resources, including up to 2 GW of natural gas and up to 2.6 GW of battery storage.
The project structure aims to add new supply as demand ramps, shielding existing residential and small-business ratepayers from added costs.
