NIO Recalls 246,229 Vehicles Over Software Fault as Deliveries Jump 96%
NIO is recalling 246,229 vehicles produced 2018–2023 for a dashboard software glitch affecting three-quarters of its 2025 sales, to be fixed by remote updates or service visits. January deliveries rose 96.1% to 27,182 units, pushing cumulative deliveries past 1 million and rolling WorldModel software to 460,000+ vehicles.
1. Recall Details
NIO announced its largest recall of 246,229 ES8, ES6 and EC6 vehicles built from 2018 to 2023 due to a software issue that can disable dashboard and control screens. The recall represents about 75% of its 2025 sales and will be addressed via over-the-air updates or scheduled service visits.
2. Delivery Growth and Tech Roll-Out
In January, NIO delivered 27,182 vehicles, up 96.1% year-over-year, including 20,894 premium NIO units, 3,481 ONVO models and 2,807 other brand vehicles. The company also deployed its latest WorldModel autonomous driving software to over 460,000 cars and surpassed 1 million cumulative deliveries.

NIO continues to invest in battery swapping and charging infrastructure across key markets while expanding its footprint into Europe, Central Asia and the Asia Pacific region to support its smart EV ecosystem and drive further adoption.
