NioCorp signs MOU with Lockheed Martin for up to 15 tonnes/year scandium oxide supply over 10 years
NB•NioCorp and Lockheed Martin sign non-binding supply MOU
NioCorp signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Lockheed Martin on a potential 10-year supply of up to 15 tonnes per year of scandium oxide.
Supply could be delivered as scandium oxide or aluminum-scandium alloys, pending negotiation of a definitive agreement.
Program ties into Skunk Works development work and U.S. funding
The deal builds on a Skunk Works joint development program for scandium-based aluminum components for modern fighter aircraft.
The program is backed by a $10 million U.S. Department of War Title III Defense Production Act award to NioCorp unit Elk Creek Resources.
Elk Creek project targets about 100 tonnes per year of scandium oxide once financing closes and construction is completed.
