NIQ flagged a summer uplift in UK grocery demand, with total till sales up 4.4% in the four weeks to July 11, 2026.
Spending peaked in the week to June 27 at nearly GBP 4.6 billion, lifting sales growth to 7.6% year on year.
Promotions rise as cost pressures persist
Cost-of-living pressure persisted, with 66% reporting moderate or severe impact; promoted sales rose to 25% of FMCG from 23.5%.
