Nomad Foods to close Swiss plant, targets €200m savings and cuts 45 jobs

Nomad Foods will close its Rorschach plant in Switzerland by the end of the year, affecting 45 employees and shifting Findus frozen meals production to facilities in Italy and Spain under its long-term productivity programme. The company aims to secure €200m in operational savings between 2026 and 2028 and forecasts 2026 organic sales to fall 2–5% with adjusted EBITDA down 5–10% after a 7.5% drop in 2025.

1. Plant Closure Details

Nomad Foods confirmed it will shut its Rorschach manufacturing plant in Switzerland by year-end, impacting 45 full-time employees. Consultations with staff run through 8 May, with support measures planned during the transition.

2. Long-Term Productivity Programme

This closure is part of a broader productivity programme targeting €200m in operational savings over the 2026–2028 financial years. Efficiencies will be driven by procurement transformation, logistics cost reduction and overhead optimisation.

3. Production Relocation

Production of Findus products such as Plätzli, lasagne and cannelloni will be transferred to Nomad’s facilities in Italy and Spain. The company expects uninterrupted supply to the Swiss market despite the relocation.

4. Financial Performance and Outlook

In 2025 organic sales fell 1.9% to €3.0bn, with adjusted EBITDA down 7.5%. For 2026, Nomad Foods anticipates organic sales to decline 2–5%, adjusted EBITDA to fall 5–10% and adjusted EPS to drop 4–13%.
