Novo Nordisk study links Wegovy to greater weight loss than resmetirom in adults with MASH
NVO•Novo Nordisk said two observational studies linked Wegovy to improvements in weight, blood sugar and liver enzymes among adults with MASH. One study found greater reductions than with resmetirom at six months; the other found greater improvements over one year versus patients who did not start semaglutide.
1. Study findings
Novo Nordisk announced results from PLATINUM-Truveta and RHODIUM-2 at the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases meeting in Denver in 2026. PLATINUM-Truveta linked Wegovy to greater reductions in weight, blood sugar and a liver enzyme than resmetirom at six months, while RHODIUM-2 found greater improvements in liver enzymes, weight and blood sugar over one year versus patients who did not initiate semaglutide. Both studies were retrospective and observational, so the findings show associations rather than prove treatment effects.
