Novo Nordisk's Wegovy linked to improved liver markers in MASH patients with BMI below 27
NVO•Novo Nordisk reported improved liver markers with Wegovy 2.4 mg versus placebo in a post hoc analysis of 106 adults with MASH and BMI below 27. Improvements in liver injury, disease activity and fibrosis markers were seen at 72 weeks.
1. Analysis results
A post hoc phase 3 ESSENCE analysis found improved liver injury, disease activity and fibrosis markers with Wegovy 2.4 mg versus placebo in 106 adults with MASH, liver scarring and BMI below 27 kg/m² at 72 weeks. The exploratory findings were presented at The Liver Meeting 2026 in Denver and supplement biopsy-based results.
