NRx Defense Systems, NRX Pharma unit, wins $11.18 million DARPA contract for depression treatment trial
NRXP•NRx Defense Systems, a subsidiary of NRX Pharmaceuticals, won an $11.18 million DARPA contract for a trial combining one-day robotic neuronavigated TMS with investigational drug NRX-101 to treat treatment-resistant depression.
1. Trial funding and sites
The SPARC-TMS trial will begin enrolling patients at McLean Hospital, Arizona State University and HOPE Therapeutics, with leading military hospitals joining as affiliates. The program aims to replicate prior real-world outcomes of 91% response and 69% remission at three months using TMS with d-cycloserine. NRx Defense expects the study could support an FDA registration package for NRX-101 used alongside TMS in treatment-resistant depression.
