Nuvation Bio’s Taletrectinib Earns MHRA Validation for UK ROS1+ NSCLC Approval
NUVB•Nuvation Bio’s partner Eisai secured MHRA validation of its UK Marketing Authorisation Application for taletrectinib in advanced ROS1-positive NSCLC, following EMA validation in March 2026. The application is supported by pooled data from Phase 2 TRUST-I and TRUST-II studies, moving the drug closer to UK market entry.
1. MHRA Validates Taletrectinib MAA
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency in the United Kingdom has validated the Marketing Authorisation Application submitted by Eisai for taletrectinib, marking a formal acceptance of the dossier for evaluation under the International Recognition Procedure. This milestone follows a similar validation by the European Medicines Agency in March 2026 and brings taletrectinib closer to potential UK approval.
2. Basis of Application and Clinical Data
The submission relies on pooled results from two pivotal Phase 2 studies, TRUST-I (N=173 in China) and TRUST-II (N=189 globally), which demonstrated confirmed objective response rates assessed by an independent review committee. Updated safety and efficacy data were presented at major oncology meetings and published in peer-reviewed journals, reinforcing the drug’s CNS activity and tolerability in ROS1-positive NSCLC patients.
3. Market Potential in the United Kingdom
Each year roughly 50,200 new lung cancer cases are diagnosed in the UK, with 80–85% classified as non-small cell lung cancer and about 2% of those harboring a ROS1+ mutation. This translates to an addressable patient population of approximately 1,000 cases annually, underscoring a meaningful commercial opportunity if approval is granted.
4. Regulatory Pathway and Next Steps
Following validation, the MHRA will conduct a targeted assessment leveraging prior EMA and FDA reviews, aiming to expedite access for UK patients. Additional regulatory filings are planned for Canada and other licensed territories, with the company monitoring review timelines and preparing for potential launch.
