Meta unveiled four MTIA-series AI chips (300/400/450/500) for ranking, generative AI and high-end inferencing, planning deployments through 2027 on unified infrastructure. Nvidia backed Nebius with a $2 billion investment to enable over 5 GW of AI data center capacity by 2030 as hyperscalers prepare $650 billion in AI capex.

1. Meta Unveils MTIA 300–500 AI Chips

Meta launched four custom MTIA AI chips—300, 400, 450 and 500—for ranking, generative models and high-end inferencing, all using the same infrastructure to simplify upgrades. The MTIA 400 can be stacked in 72-chip racks with raw performance and cost efficiency claimed to rival leading commercial offerings, with rollouts through 2027.

2. Nvidia’s $2 B Nebius Investment

Nvidia committed $2 billion to Nebius to help deploy more than 5 GW of AI data center power capacity by the end of 2030. This investment supports the largest infrastructure build-out in history, according to company leaders, and aims to strengthen Nvidia’s cloud footprint.

3. Hyperscaler Spending Trends

Hyperscale clients account for slightly more than half of Nvidia’s data center revenue, heightening sensitivity to in-house chip developments. Industry plans call for Amazon, Google, Meta and Microsoft to spend $650 billion on AI capital projects in 2026, underscoring the scale of data center expansion.
