Nvidia will not make further investments in OpenAI or Anthropic, having reduced its OpenAI commitment from $100B to $30B. Nvidia holds 86% AI GPU data center share and delivered 65% sales growth, outperforming AMD’s 34% growth and 101 P/E.

1. Investment Pullback

At a San Francisco tech conference, Jensen Huang stated Nvidia will cease further equity investments in OpenAI and Anthropic once they go public, trimming its OpenAI commitment from an initially proposed $100B to $30B. He cited sufficient ecosystem deepening and circular investment dynamics as reasons for the pullback, despite recent tensions and U.S. restrictions on Anthropic.

2. AI GPU Leadership vs. AMD

Nvidia commands an 86% share of AI GPUs in data centers and reported 65% revenue growth for fiscal 2025, supported by its CUDA software ecosystem and high-performance chip sales. In comparison, AMD posted 34% revenue growth and trades at a P/E of 101, reflecting Nvidia’s superior market position and valuation appeal.
