NVIDIA, Emerald AI and Six Energy Firms to Deploy DSX Flex AI Factories Unlocking 100 GW
NVIDIA and Emerald AI are teaming with six energy firms including AES and NextEra to deploy AI factories using the Vera Rubin DSX design and DSX Flex software for faster interconnections. These sites can leverage co-located generation and storage to unlock up to 100 GW of U.S. grid capacity.
1. Strategic Collaboration
NVIDIA and Emerald AI are partnering with AES, Constellation, Invenergy, NextEra Energy, Nscale Energy & Power and Vistra to develop a new class of AI factories that serve as flexible grid assets and deliver AI computational capacity alongside grid support services.
2. DSX Design and Software
The AI factories leverage NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin DSX design and the DSX Flex software library to connect rapidly to power-grid services, enabling grid-responsive operations, faster time to power and integrated energy-compute orchestration.
3. Hybrid Power and Storage Integration
Sites can deploy co-located generation and battery storage as bridge power for initial operations, then repurpose these assets to flexibly supply or absorb electricity, optimizing utilization and reducing the need for oversized infrastructure.
4. Grid Capacity and Reliability Impact
Flexible AI factory deployments could unlock up to 100 GW of U.S. grid capacity by shifting large loads during peak stress periods, accelerating interconnection timelines, lowering long-term costs and bolstering overall system reliability.
