Nvidia Restarts H200 Production, Projects $1 Trillion AI Chip Orders

NVDANVDA

Nvidia is resuming manufacturing of its H200 AI chip after securing US export licenses, restarting production halted last year due to regulatory hurdles. CEO Jensen Huang forecast $1 trillion in orders for Blackwell and Vera Rubin chips through 2027 and unveiled Vera Rubin chips delivering 3.5x faster training speeds.

1. H200 Production Restart

Nvidia has restarted production of its H200 AI chip for the Chinese market after halting output last year due to tightening US and Chinese regulations. The move follows approval of US export licenses and marks a strategic shift to regain market share in China’s AI sector.

2. $1 Trillion Order Projection

CEO Jensen Huang announced a $1 trillion order pipeline for the company’s Blackwell and Vera Rubin chip families through 2027, more than double last year’s $500 billion forecast. He warned that demand could exceed projections, signaling robust growth prospects for Nvidia’s AI business.

3. Regulatory and Export Framework

Under a December 2025 US framework, Nvidia can export the H200 to approved Chinese customers if licensing conditions are met and the US government receives 25% of revenue. This comes after a $5.5 billion hit from prior restrictions and Chinese antitrust scrutiny tied to Nvidia’s Mellanox acquisition.

4. Vera Rubin Chips and Groq Acquisition

At GTC 2026, Nvidia unveiled Vera Rubin chips boasting 3.5x faster model training and 5x faster inference than Blackwell. The company also confirmed its $20 billion acquisition of Groq and plans to launch the Groq 3 Language Processing Unit in the second half of 2026.
