Nvidia to Deploy 1M GPUs with AWS Through 2027, Faces $20B Groq Antitrust Probe
Nvidia will supply over 1 million GPUs and Spectrum networking chips to Amazon Web Services from 2023 through 2027 across Blackwell and Rubin architectures, driving what Jensen Huang forecasts as a $1 trillion opportunity by 2027. At the same time, US senators have questioned Nvidia’s $20 billion Groq licensing arrangement over potential antitrust risks.
1. Nvidia-AWS GPU Supply Deal
Nvidia has agreed to supply over 1 million GPUs along with Spectrum networking chips and newly launched Groq processors to Amazon Web Services across its global cloud regions. The deployment will span multiple architectures, including Blackwell and Rubin, with installations beginning this year and continuing through 2027; Nvidia projects this collaboration will unlock up to $1 trillion in demand for its AI chips over the period.
2. Groq Licensing Sparks Antitrust Scrutiny
Nvidia’s $20 billion licensing deal with AI startup Groq, finalized at the end of 2025, has drawn a letter from US senators Elizabeth Warren and Richard Blumenthal seeking details on whether the structure circumvents antitrust review. The arrangement grants Nvidia a non-exclusive license to Groq’s technology and brings key talent into Nvidia while the startup remains independent, raising questions about potential competition limits and prompting closer regulatory attention.
