Nvidia Taps SK Hynix DRAM for Vera CPU, Forecasts Large H2 Growth
NVDA•Nvidia’s inaugural data center CPU, Vera, will use SK Hynix’s DRAM after the pair delivered a “very big” year together. CEO Jensen Huang forecasts a “very large” second half and is meeting telecom, auto and semiconductor partners to expand Nvidia’s AI infrastructure reach.
1. Vera CPU Launch and Features
Nvidia introduced Vera, its first standalone data center CPU, designed to compete with Intel Xeon, AMD Epyc and custom chips from hyperscale operators. The processor aims to broaden Nvidia’s compute offerings beyond GPUs into the CPU segment.
2. SK Hynix Collaboration
Jensen Huang highlighted SK Hynix’s role as a key DRAM supplier for Vera after a “very big” year together. This integration gives SK Hynix direct exposure to one of Nvidia’s next major AI compute platforms.
3. Strategic Partner Meetings
During his South Korea visit, Huang met SK Group Chairman, SK Hynix CEO and telecom executives, and will meet Samsung, Hyundai Motor Group and LG leaders. These talks reflect Nvidia’s push to integrate chips, memory, autos and telecom networks into its AI infrastructure strategy.
4. Market Implications
The Vera partnership and expanded supplier network position Nvidia to capture a larger share of the AI infrastructure market. Engaging telecom and auto partners could open new revenue streams beyond graphics processing units.
