NYSERDA awards contracts for energy storage, renewable projects

Sept. 23 (Reuters) - The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority on Wednesday announced awards for eight new bulk energy storage projects and 13 large-scale renewable energy projects.

• The projects are expected to attract more than $3.7 billion in private investment, add 1.7 gigawatts of new energy capacity and create more than 1,000 jobs.
• The eight storage projects are expected to add 950 MW of energy storage, and the renewable projects will total more than 719 MW of renewable generation.
• NYSERDA said all eight storage projects are expected to be in service by the end of 2030.
• The 13 renewable energy projects include solar, wind and hydroelectric facilities and are expected to be operational by 2030, according to NYSERDA.
