Oklo Secures HALEU LOI for Five Aurora Reactors at 1.2 GW Ohio Campus
OKLO•Oklo and Centrus signed a Letter of Intent for HALEU deliveries beginning 2029 to fuel five Aurora powerhouses at Oklo’s planned 1.2 GW southern Ohio campus, backed by prepayments and multi-billion-dollar investment. Analysts forecast Oklo’s small modular reactors could capitalize on SpaceX’s $75 billion AI-driven power needs, raising long-term demand prospects.
1. HALEU Supply Agreement
Oklo and Centrus entered a Letter of Intent under which Centrus will deliver high-assay low-enriched uranium starting in 2029 to support fuel loads for up to five Aurora powerhouses. The LOI anticipates a future definitive contract and may include Oklo prepayments to secure multi-year HALEU supply from the American Centrifuge Plant in Pike County, Ohio.
2. Ohio Campus Investment and Jobs
The HALEU agreement underpins a planned 1.2 GW clean energy campus in southern Ohio, featuring multiple Aurora units. Deployment is expected to bring multi-billion-dollar private investment, over 700 construction jobs, and 40–50 permanent roles per powerhouse, boosting regional economic growth.
3. SMR Demand from AI Power Needs
With SpaceX’s $75 billion AI infrastructure push, small modular reactors are poised to meet surging power demands that traditional sources cannot satisfy. Oklo’s fast fission technology, offering low-water, emission-free baseload power, could capture a significant share of this emerging market opportunity.
