Orange joins Telco OI-led consortium for ReuNION submarine cable linking La Reunion to South Africa

Orange will act as the landing party, Orange Marine will deploy the cable, and Alcatel Submarine Networks will design and manufacture the system.
Planned system capacity and financing
The system is planned with 16 fiber pairs and a capacity of 20 Tbps per pair.
European Union co-financing was cited via the Connecting Europe Facility, with additional support under the FEDER regional development fund.
Orange joins consortium for ReuNION subsea cable
Orange joined a consortium with Telco OI, Réunicable and La Réunion Connectée to develop the ReuNION subsea cable for La Réunion.
The project targets a more direct international route to South Africa to cut latency, diversify routes and strengthen network resilience.
