Ortega Launches May 6 Seis de Mayo with 2,000 Free Taco Giveaways in Chicago
Ortega declares May 6 as Seis de Mayo with Chicago pop-ups serving 750 breakfast tacos and 1,250 Chicago Taco Dogs. It offers buy-one-get-one-free on select products May 5-6 and launches a Seis 50 recipe series of state-inspired tacos.
1. Seis de Mayo Holiday Launch
Ortega is extending the Cinco de Mayo celebration by officially declaring May 6 as Seis de Mayo. To mark the occasion, the brand will stage taco truck pop-ups in Chicago’s Pioneer Court from 5:30–10:30 a.m. serving 750 breakfast tacos, then in Wrigleyville from 4–7 p.m. serving 1,250 Chicago Taco Dogs.
2. Chicago Taco Dog Collaboration
The Chicago Taco Dog blends a classic Chicago-style hot dog—with mustard, relish, onions, pickle spear and sport peppers—inside an Ortega taco shell topped with Ortega taco sauce. This limited-time mashup was created in collaboration with Celebrity Chef Kelsey Murphy and debuts at the Wrigleyville pop-up.
3. Promotion and Seis 50 Series
To drive broader participation, Ortega will run a buy-one-get-one-free promotion on select products May 5-6 at participating retailers. The brand is also launching the Seis 50 recipe series, featuring taco mashups inspired by iconic dishes from each of the 50 states to sustain the fiesta beyond Chicago.
