Paramount reportedly developing Cyberpunk 2077 film, lifting CD Projekt RED shares
PSKY•Paramount is reportedly developing a live-action film set in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, sending CD Projekt RED shares 3% higher in early Friday trading.
1. Film in development
Paramount Pictures is developing the film alongside producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, entertainment outlet Deadline reported. CD Projekt RED joint-CEO Michal Nowakowski said the company was excited about Paramount as a future partner and looked forward to sharing more details.
2. Game and sequel figures
Cyberpunk 2077 had sold 40 million copies as of July 3, while its Phantom Liberty expansion had sold 15 million. CD Projekt RED had 184 developers working on a sequel as of July 31; no launch date had been announced. An Erste analyst said Paramount’s involvement should help sustain interest ahead of the next instalment.
