PayPal Taps WeChat Pay Access in China and Seeks $1.5B in Cost Cuts
PYPL•PayPal has integrated with WeChat Pay’s TenPay Global network, letting U.S. customers pay at millions of Chinese merchants via QR codes with fee waivers through 2026 and planned expansion to other markets. 1. WeChat Pay Integration
PayPal has linked its PayPal World service with Tencent’s TenPay Global network, enabling U.S. customers to scan WeChat Pay QR codes at millions of Chinese merchants. The partnership includes temporary fee waivers for foreign bank cards through 2026 and will roll out to additional markets over time.
2. $1.5B Cost Reduction Plan
PayPal aims to realize $1.5B in cost savings by leveraging artificial intelligence, advanced automation and organizational restructuring.
