Penumbra says STORM-PE subset links wearable step data with 6-minute walk test recovery
PEN•Penumbra said a STORM-PE randomized trial subset analysis linked wearable activity data with clinic-based functional recovery in pulmonary embolism patients, with the strongest correlations around 30 days.
1. Wearable activity findings
Penumbra said the subset analysis, presented this week at the VIVA meeting, linked wearable step data with 6-minute walk test recovery. The company said the results support that clinical gains from computer-assisted vacuum thrombectomy with anticoagulation translate into day-to-day recovery.
2. Separate trial analysis
Separately, an interim STRIKE-PE analysis of 1,000 patients presented at VEINS indicated sustained functional and quality-of-life improvements at one year.
