Petrobras Cuts Gas Injection to 61 Days, Boosting Archrock Demand

AROCAROC

Petrobras cut first gas injection at its P-78 platform to 61 days from 79, speeding Búzios output ramp-up on P-78 and P-79. Accelerated injections and P-80/P-81 launches in early 2027 could lift demand for Archrock’s compression services, underpinning its 5.8% 2026 earnings growth forecast.

1. Record Gas Injection Milestone

Petrobras completed first gas injection at P-78 platform in 61 days, setting a new operational record versus the 79 days taken by P-66. This faster ramp-up stabilizes reservoir pressure sooner, enabling the interconnection of additional wells and accelerating oil output growth.

2. Platform Ramp-Up and Timeline

While P-78 has one well connected and P-79 nears final commissioning, Petrobras plans to link more wells following gas injection stabilization. Platforms P-80 and P-81 remain on track for early 2027 start-ups, each designed to produce about 180,000 barrels per day.

3. Demand for Compression Services

Accelerated gas injection schedules across Búzios platforms increase need for high-capacity compression equipment and services. As a leading provider of gas compression solutions, Archrock stands to benefit from higher service volumes, supporting its projected 5.8% earnings growth in 2026.
